Seoul played host to the World IT Show 2024, the largest exhibition for information and communications technology in South Korea. Organized to showcase the latest advancements in technology, both local and global firms participated in the event. Under the theme of “Innovation in everyday life, created by artificial intelligence (AI),” the three-day exhibition attracted participants from 10 countries, in addition to Korea. The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that a total of 446 companies and various institutions would be showcasing their products and research projects.
LG Electronics Inc. presented its product line-up featuring its new technology called “affectionate AI.” This on-device artificial intelligence technology is capable of synchronizing and optimizing different electronics for user convenience. LG’s exhibition included mobility vision, such as “Alpha 11” and “Alpha-able,” which are the company’s next-generation AI processors powering organic light emitting diode televisions.
Samsung Electronics Co., the Korean tech giant, showcased its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24, allowing visitors to experience the phone’s AI features firsthand. These features include real-time translation during phone calls, along with various other AI capabilities. Samsung also introduced its electronic wallet service, Samsung Wallet, and its range of home appliances now equipped with AI functionalities.
Other mobile phone carriers, including KT Corp. and SK Telecom Co., were also present at the exhibition, displaying their AI-based products.
The World IT Show, which opened on April 17th, will run until April 19th at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center. In addition to product displays, the exhibition will feature keynote sessions and panel discussions by industry experts, providing networking opportunities. Over 100,000 industry and ICT professionals are expected to attend the show.
Looking ahead, Korea and Britain are set to co-host the AI Seoul Summit next month in May. This summit follows the AI safety summit held in England last year, as announced by the presidential office.
