Strategic Executive Chairman Michael Saylor Congratulates Leading Stablecoin Issuer Tether for Acquiring 8,888 Bitcoins in Q2 2025
In commemoration of the end of Q1 2025, Tether purchased 8,888 BTC for approximately $735 million. The transaction occurred yesterday, March 31, 2025, at 21:58 (UTC). This has increased the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 92,646 BTC, with an equivalent dollar value of $7.75 billion.
Tether’s Bitcoin Holdings
It is notable that the latest acquisition aligns with Tether’s strategy of using a portion of its net profits to acquire Bitcoin. Typically, Tether transfers funds to its reserves at the end of each quarter following each acquisition.
After the latest transaction, Tether’s reserve wallet ranks sixth among the top 100 wealthiest Bitcoin addresses. This indicates that Tether’s address is the sixth largest in terms of the amount of BTC held in a single blockchain wallet.
In context, Tether made its first purchase of Bitcoin in September 2022. Since then, it has begun a Bitcoin accumulation spree, committing to buying 15% of its net profits in BTC each quarter.
Saylor Congratulates Tether
Interestingly, Tether’s latest Bitcoin purchase caught the attention of Strategic Executive Chairman Saylor, who congratulated the stablecoin issuer.
“Congratulations on [acquiring] 8,888 Bitcoins in Q1,” Saylor commented. His remarks indicate that he considers the acquisition of 8,888 BTC to be a significant development worthy of recognition.
Thank you, Michael
