Following closely, cryptocurrency analyst Benjamin Cowen stated that altcoins may crash in the third quarter of 2025. In a new strategic meeting, Cowen informed his 874,000 YouTube subscribers that there could be another movement at some point that lowers them, as their movements are largely correlated with Bitcoin’s price action (BTC). He mentioned that around November could be a time when altcoins can install a recovery.
“I believe that at some point this year, [altcoins] might crash… perhaps [they will do so this summer, and then we will see them bounce back later this year, just like they did before. Remember, the significant movement of Alt/Bitcoin in 2017 did not occur until November, so you have to keep that in mind.”
Cowen’s charts examined Total3 – an index that tracks the total value of all digital assets excluding Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and stablecoins – which seems to indicate that when paired with BTC, it will fall below the 0.27 line. Total3/BTC is currently at 0.47.
In previous cycles, when Total3/BTC reached the 0.27 area, the altcoin market crashed. Cowen further stated that the health of the altcoin market largely depends on BTC, and the yields generated in the 10-year treasury typically reflect the general risk appetite of investors.
“If Bitcoin breaks into a new cycle, then I believe Bitcoin will lead this movement, so the fate of the altcoin market in March solely depends on Bitcoin. If Bitcoin rises, they will rise as well… If Bitcoin crashes, I think this could correspond to a long surge in the yield curve, which is something we’ve been tracking. If you actually look at the 10-year yields, one thing that led to Bitcoin consolidating and ultimately breaking was a surge in the 10-year yield.”
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $96,637, with a growth of 1.3% over the last day.
