The game Notcoin based on Telegram has announced that it has partnered with a well-known analytics company to establish an incubator for the next wave of Telegram games, which is the biggest move the project has made so far, expanding from viral hype to the pillar of a crypto-supported mini-app explosion.
Both companies announced on Wednesday that with the support of the artificial intelligence analytics company Helika, Notcoin will soon launch a Telegram game accelerator.
Anton Umnov, co-founder and CEO of Helika, said in a statement shared with Decrypt, “This is an important milestone for Helika to support our current and future clients in building on Telegram.” “Helika sees huge opportunities for game studios of all sizes to reach and engage users globally at a deeper level.”
The project will focus on developing mini-applications in the popular messaging app Telegram and will be live on Telegram’s blockchain network, Open Network.
The Telegram Game Accelerator will help developers of such games, which have so far often followed a simple but enticing roadmap: Entice Telegram’s more than 900 million users with basic games, and then airdrop rewards to these players with real encrypted tokens.
Notcoin is the first Telegram mini-application to adopt this strategy and has achieved tremendous success. In the weeks following the launch of the Notcoin player airdrop in May, the market value of the NOT token exceeded $2 billion. Since then, the market value of NOT has fallen to $1.3 billion.
Other projects quickly adopted this novel approach. Hamster Kombat, a similar Telegram-based game involving non-stop button clicking, became popular last month. Catizen, a cat-themed button-clicking feast, is another mini-application that recently went viral on Telegram.
For several months, even before the release of the NOT token, the Notcoin team has been planning to go beyond developing a viral game and build an infrastructure to spur the proliferation of countless similar applications on Telegram.
“We hope it becomes the Netflix of social, viral games,” said Sasha Plotvinov, co-founder of Notcoin, speaking to Decrypt’s GG Notcoin about the future plans for Notcoin.
Plotvinov detailed his vision of turning Notcoin into a home base for developing “viral, fun, entertaining, competitive social crypto games” live on Telegram in the future.
Today’s announcement brings the project one step closer to that goal. Helika, the company collaborating with Notcoin to establish the game incubator, has previously partnered with gaming giants Ubisoft and the founder of Bored Ape Yacht Club, Yuga Labs, to effectively integrate crypto elements into games and market these experiences.
In March of this year, Helika launched a $50 million cryptocurrency game accelerator supported by venture capital to streamline the integration of crypto tools with games from early to mature studios.
A representative from Helika told Decrypt that while previous projects and the Telegram-specific incubator announced today may overlap and share some resources, the two initiatives are separate, indicating that they will not draw funds from the same source.
