Coin World reports:
Andrew Tate is now permitted to leave Romania, where he awaits trial for alleged human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. The controversial internet personality then announced a world tour for DADDY, the Solana token he has been promoting in recent weeks.
According to NBC News, the Bucharest court ruled that the former kickboxer, arrested in December 2022 with his brother Tristan, may leave the country but must remain within the EU.
“I’m free,” Tate wrote on Twitter. “For the first time in 3 years, I can leave Romania.”
Despite being restricted to the EU, Tate quickly began fantasizing about a “global” tour to promote the DADDY meme coin. “I can travel the world freely. The Daddy Tour,” he declared in a Twitter video, listing destinations he wishes to visit, including “Tokyo, Dubai, and Miami.”
Tate did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment to clarify details of the DADDY world tour.
DADDY saw a brief surge on the day, while other parts of the cryptocurrency market experienced losses, but the Tate-endorsed token has also fallen about 5% in the past 24 hours.
Last month, Tate began promoting the Solana meme coin DADDY, attempting to flip Iggy Azalea’s token MOTHER. After completing the mission, the self-proclaimed misogynist proudly declared, “Patriarchy is back.”
On Thursday, the citizen with dual British and American nationality outlined the DADDY airdrop plan, which requires joining the influential figure’s controversial “get-rich-quick cult.” After joining an improved version of his controversial scam university, “The Real World,” users are encouraged to elevate their “power level” to receive more DADDY tokens in the airdrop.
The Real World app was banned in 2023 by Google and Apple’s respective mobile app stores. This occurred after activists complained that the app was a pyramid scheme leading youths towards a misogynistic ideology, as reported by Vice.
“I hope this cryptocurrency project is fair,” Tate said in a live stream. “If you’re disappointed with the amount of the airdrop, you can only be disappointed with yourself. You could have raised your power level, but you’re not working hard every day.”
While this may be a novel idea for Tate, it follows the same concept most airdrop campaigns adhere to—people often still feel disappointed with their haul. Recently, many BLAST airdrop participants were disappointed with the value of their airdrops, despite their efforts to find tokens.
With the announcement of this airdrop campaign, the Tate-promoted token performed well this week, climbing 67%. But for now, these are just ideas and promises. Tate’s global tour is currently “loading,” with no official airdrop date or further details announced yet.
While Tate, awaiting trial in Romania, is free to travel to the EU, there is also a separate arrest warrant in the UK for rape and sexual assault charges. Romanian authorities have agreed to extradite him only after the country’s trial against the influencer concludes.
No date has been set for the trial of Andrew Tate.
