Amazon announced on Monday a new version of its Echo Spot alarm clock priced at $79. The improved design of the clock includes enhanced sound quality. The company added a display screen where users can view the time, weather, or watch the currently playing song. Amazon also installed a better speaker on the device, which reportedly offers clearer vocals and deeper bass. This marks the first upgrade for the device since Amazon launched the Echo Spot in 2017. The previous version, priced at $129, also featured a semi-circular design but had a full-size display screen and a camera. Amazon stated that members of its Prime subscription plan, which costs $139 per year, can purchase the new Echo Spot for $44.99 before July 17th during Amazon’s Prime Day sale. According to previous reports by the U.S. Consumer News and Business Channel, Amazon is updating the Echo Spot and is expected to make comprehensive improvements to its voice assistant, Alexa. The company typically makes a series of announcements related to its Echo and Alexa lineup during its fall event, usually held in September.
