The SHIB community has received a warning that scammers are promoting fake Treat tokens.
ShibArmy is urged to remain vigilant, verify information through reliable sources, and report any suspicious activity.
Beware of counterfeit tokens
The popular meme coin Shiba Inu (SHIB) has one of the largest communities in the cryptocurrency world, with millions of investors and supporters.
Therefore, it is not surprising that some members often become targets of bad actors who come up with inventive ways to consume their funds.
ShibArmy Scam Alert (an X account focused on SHIB community security) recently issued a warning for “Shibarians, Shibizens, and all members of the wider cryptocurrency community” to exercise extra caution as scammers endorse fake Treat tokens.
The team reminds that Treat is not yet released:
“This serves as a reminder that some groups are promoting a counterfeit Treat token claiming to be part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
Please remember that the official Treat token has not been released yet.
Any token claiming otherwise is a scam intended to deceive you.”
The team assures that once TREAT is live, it will be officially announced.
In the meantime, the SHIB community should remain vigilant and avoid interacting with those non-existent tokens.
“If you are unsure about any information or token, always verify through trusted sources within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. ShibArmy, stay safe and protect your assets.
Let’s continue supporting each other and maintaining the security of our community,” the team concludes.
Previous alerts
Earlier this month, ShibArmy Scam Alert warned that some scammers have been abusing the name of Ryoshi to attract attention and deceive members within the ecosystem.
Ryoshi is believed to be the anonymous creator of the meme coin, and their true identity remains a mystery.
The alert states, “We urge all ShibArmy members to stay vigilant, stay alert, and question anything suspicious. Always verify information through official channels, and report any fraud or misuse of the Ryoshi name immediately.”
It is worth noting that Ryoshi has not stayed in charge for long, passing the torch to another anonymous developer named Kusama Yayoi.
Recently, the latter participated in an interview wearing a mask and with a disguised voice.
They specified that they have no intention of revealing their identity, emphasizing that the strength of SHIB does not rely on a small group of individuals.
Kusama Yayoi also promised to step down by the end of the year, transferring control to the community, thereby strengthening the goal of true decentralization.
