CoinDesk Reports:
Shytoshi Kusama, the head of Shiba Inu, has revealed how scammers are exploiting his interaction with the SHIB community.
The chief developer of Shiba Inu disclosed this in a lengthy post published yesterday.
New scam strategy: In the post, Kusama mentioned that he usually pays attention to some X accounts belonging to SHIB enthusiasts to understand what is happening in the community. However, scammers have noticed this trend. They contact these users and offer up to 1 ETH to purchase these accounts, which Kusama also followed. After acquiring them, scammers use the accounts to promote fake tokens, especially TREAT, which the company is preparing to launch.
Kusama stated that scammers have created other profiles with cute girls as avatars to give legitimacy to the fraudulent TREAT token. He expressed frustration with this development and encouraged the community to only stick to official channels for reliable information.
New solution to address this scam strategy: The chief developer of Shiba Inu revealed his plan to combat the new scam strategy. He pledged to privately and publicly discuss the TREAT token. This ensures that all key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the Shiba Inu ecosystem are fully informed about the upcoming token.
Additionally, he revealed that the team is set to launch Karma and Reputation systems related to DAO governance. Kusama stated that he hopes this system will provide transparent records of user reputation, emphasizing that this will expose bad actors and reward good behavior within the community.
This initiative also aims to make the Shiba Inu ecosystem a trusted center for developers by enhancing its credibility.
Ongoing warnings: Meanwhile, scammers have been employing various strategies to exploit the unsuspecting members of the Shiba Inu community. These include promoting fake airdrops related to tokens in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, as well as creating counterfeit versions of existing and upcoming tokens.
These criminals promote these illicit activities by impersonating some well-known members of the Shiba Inu ecosystem team, such as Shytoshi Kusama. A recent trend involves purchasing Kusama’s accounts on X to promote fake tokens.
Interestingly, the Shiba Inu ecosystem team continues to expose these scam strategies to protect users’ safety. The team consistently warns that the TREAT token has not been released to the market yet. Therefore, any claims of a TREAT token associated with the Shiba Inu project are false.
