Solana Foundation Launches Solana Actions and Blinks
San Francisco – June 25, 2024 – The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the decentralization, accessibility, and security of the Solana network, announced today the launch of Solana Actions and blockchain links (blinks) in its developer toolkit. These tools provide a way to integrate blockchain transactions into any platform, creating a seamless and intuitive web3 experience for users.
Solana Actions allow users to execute on-chain transactions on various platforms, including websites, social media, and physical QR codes. Actions enable developers to easily integrate all the functionality of the Solana ecosystem directly into their applications.
Solana blinks transform any Action into a shareable link, allowing any website that can display a URL to become the starting point for Solana transactions. As a result, blinks turn websites or social media platforms into interfaces for on-chain transactions without redirecting users elsewhere—making decentralized applications more accessible and user-friendly.
“For a long time, access to blockchain protocols has been limited to dApps and other wallet-aware tools. Now, Actions and blinks on Solana allow any website and application on the internet to become a distribution point for on-chain interactions—furthering the goal of mainstream adoption,” said Jon Wong, Ecosystem Engineering Lead at the Solana Foundation. “These simple yet powerful tools pave the way for wider blockchain transaction adoption by lowering the barriers to entry, bringing blockchain to everyone, everywhere.”
“Actions and blinks fulfill one of the original promises of the internet: they make experiences portable, shareable, and actionable across any interface. From your X feed, you can buy NFTs, tip creators, receive payments, vote, stake, exchange, and more,” said Chris Osborn, founder of Dialect. “Our mission at Dialect is to provide developers with the best tools to create these experiences for their users. We can’t wait to see what the community builds using them.”
Solana Actions and blinks are now available for immediate integration into existing products by businesses. Detailed documentation and support are provided to help developers get started.
