According to CoinWorld, Ripple has released a new quarterly report focusing on the XRP market, disclosing detailed information about the company’s total XRP holdings. Notably, Ripple shared its quarterly XRP market report to provide a transparent and informed perspective on key updates regarding the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and developments related to XRP. The latest report specifically details Ripple’s XRP holdings.
How much XRP does Ripple hold? Ripple discloses its XRP holdings at the beginning and end of each quarter. The company’s XRP reserves are divided into two categories: Available XRP, which refers to the XRP currently held in Ripple’s wallets and accessible immediately, and Custodied XRP, which includes XRP locked in ledger custodial accounts, scheduled to be released once a month. Before the custodial release, Ripple cannot access this XRP. Each month, a portion of the custodied XRP, specifically 1 billion tokens, is released to Ripple. The company typically withdraws 200 million XRP tokens from this issuance and re-custodies the remaining balance.
As of June 30, 2024, Ripple reported a total holding of 4,682,112,997 (46.8 billion) XRP. Additionally, the company had 3,950,000,005 XRP in custody at that time. By September 30, 2024, Ripple’s holdings had decreased to 4,436,713,796 (44.4 billion) XRP, while the amount in custodial accounts was slightly lower at 3,890,000,005 (38.9 billion) XRP. In other words, at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024, Ripple’s total balance was 43.3 billion XRP.
Meanwhile, Ripple issued 1 billion XRP in October, locking in 800 million dollars. In November, 1 billion XRP was released; however, at the time of this report, the company had yet to re-lock 800 million tokens from November’s custodial execution. According to Ripple’s API data, as of October 27, the company’s available balance was approximately 4.42 billion XRP. Meanwhile, the custodial balance stood at 38.7 billion. With the issuance of 1 billion tokens on November 1, if Ripple returns the customary 800 million tokens, the custodial balance will decrease to 37.7 billion XRP, eventually rising to 38.5 billion XRP.
Ripple also revealed that it occasionally transfers XRP to third parties, including trusts, exchange-traded products (ETPs), and other investment entities. When this occurs, a small amount of XRP may be returned to third-party custody during that month. However, Ripple noted that as long as it anticipates the transferred XRP will remain within its holdings and not enter the broader market, it is classified as “XRP held by Ripple.”
