Fortnite’s recent introduction of the “Star Wars” event has sparked a significant backlash among players. Many players feel that they are not receiving enough updates unless they purchase the Lego Fortnite game extension on a quarterly basis.
One of the main concerns raised by players is the scarcity of content. While the event initially received positive reviews, the high cost of acquiring the entire set has made things even worse for existing players.
The cosmetic collection has also received mixed responses. Players were pleased to see characters like Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca included, although the latter was only available to those who purchased the Lego Battle Pass. However, many players expressed frustration with the addition of generic Stormtrooper and Luke Skywalker skins, as they were expecting a more diverse and iconic range of characters.
The main issue at the heart of the problem is the focus on the Battle Royale mode as the core experience. Instead of introducing significant additional features, the highlight of the event seems to be the reproduction of Chewbacca’s Bowcaster weapon. Some players feel that the communal game mode has been neglected, despite the availability of certain items like the Darth Vader Lightsaber and E-11 Blaster, which are essentially reboots.
Meanwhile, the new Lego Fortnite mode is receiving a lot of attention for its content additions and updates, making it feel like a completely different game. This shift in focus may upset players who primarily engage with the original battle royale mode. While the developers’ concentration on the new mode may be understandable, longtime players of the classic Battle Royale may have mixed feelings about it.
Unfortunately, the feedback from the community regarding this year’s Star Wars event has been overwhelmingly negative, with players expressing their dissatisfaction on various social media platforms. This widespread disapproval could potentially lead to a decrease in interest and negatively impact player retention.
