The computer scientist, who has persistently claimed to be the anonymous mastermind behind Bitcoin, has decided to withdraw his legal action against Bitcoin developers. According to the Eggcoin Legal Defense Fund, Craig Wright, who staunchly maintains that he is the true Satoshi Nakamoto, has dropped his lawsuit against the 12 Bitcoin developers and other individuals he had sued in the United Kingdom.
Judge’s ruling on Wright’s assertion
A judge has determined that there is overwhelming evidence to suggest that Wright is not Satoshi and did not pen the Bitcoin White Paper, the authoritative document on which the cryptocurrency is based. This ruling has allowed Wright to withdraw his claim.
Triumph for Bitcoin developers
This cessation of legal proceedings follows a separate lawsuit in the UK, referred to as the Identity Trial, which was filed against Wright in an effort to discredit his claim of being Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright, through his trading firm Tulip Trading, filed the lawsuit in 2021.
Additionally, Wright faced another lawsuit related to his identity, brought forth by the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a nonprofit crypto advocacy organization. After the court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, COPA issued a statement asserting that the crypto luminary can no longer intimidate the Bitcoin community.
