In due course, Etherdelta was acquired by Chinese individuals, resulting in a cessation of platform maintenance and support. The new owners proceeded to execute what seemed to be an exit scam initial coin offering (ICO) in December 2017, known as the EDT token. Shortly after, the website fell victim to a DNS hacking attack, wherein a convincing counterfeit version replaced it and redirected all traded tokens to the attacker’s wallet (traceable to this address). Consequently, the website remained inaccessible for approximately a month. It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred once again in August 2019.
